Possible Risks of the Egg Donation

Think over risks for an egg donor, recipient and intended parents, connected with the egg donation procedure.
Possible Risks of the Egg Donation
Egg donation process carries risks for the egg donor as well as for the recipient of the donated egg (in this case it is the surrogate mother).

The woman, who becomes an egg donor may suffer from such health complications, as bleeding, caused by the oocyte recovery procedure (this phenomenon is also known as the Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome OHSS), and it is also possible to have liver failure, though, this complication occurs rarely enough. In addition the long – term influence of egg donation on the donors is not well studied so far.

Recipient
There is the risk of receiving any transmittable disease for the recipient of donated eggs. Although, the potential egg donor may have negative test’s result for HIV, the possibility that the donor has contracted HIV recently may not be excluded.
Moreover, the eggs’ recipient usually believes that the whole genetic and medical history of the egg donor is 100% accurate. However, it should also be kept in mind that egg donors are paid thousands of dollars, and these monetary compensations often attract unscrupulous individuals, who may wish to conceal some of their true motivations.
And to another complication multiple birth  may be referred. This kind of complication is considered to be common enough, in those cases, when the physician transfers too many embryos into the surrogate mother’s uterus. It is necessary to point out that in the result of IVF treatment, the incidence of twin, triplets or other higher order pregnancy is high enough.

The couple of intended parents
The couple of intended parents will have a de facto relationship to the biological parent of their baby, who arrived in the result of a surrogacy agreement for life. And it is important to keep in mind that half of all the genetic makeup of the child, as well as half of the related traits, capabilities, tendencies, etc. comes from the egg donor.
