Pregnancy Nos

Here you can find everything you can’t do if you plan to conceive or if you are already pregnant.
Pregnancy Nos
 Overheating
Hot bath or a sauna may seem like the perfect way for your pregnant body to relax, but raising your core temperature—especially during the first trimester—may increase the chances of birth defects. It's safe to take a tepid bath but for not longer than ten minutes. Lengthy exercises in very hot and humid weather are also able to raise your core temperature. When you exercise, always drink much water before, during, and after that, and if you feel that you're heating up, take a short break.

Lead
Lead exposure has been related to miscarriage, preterm labor, low birth weight, and mental and behavioral defects in children. Remains from this toxic metal can be in places that you might not suspect: houses built before 1978 (the year when the lead paint using was prohibited), tap water, calcium supplements. Some precautions will decrease the amount of lead you contact with: ask in a lead-abatement specialist to diminish it if you live in an old house, filter your water. At last, if you take a calcium supplement, ask your doctor to advise you the one that has its lower content, for example Tums 500 Calcium Supplement.

Oral Sex
Don't worry, you needn't refuse oral pleasure completely. Just tell your mate to be careful not to blow air into your vagina during the process because your blood vessels are expanded during pregnancy, and, though the chances of this to happen are very small, a fatal air bubble could enter your bloodstream.

Certain Over-the-Counter Drugs
Everyone knows that during the pregnancy taking meds can have a bad influence on your fetus but if you have unpleasant feelings all the time there are some certain kinds of remedies which in small amounts are not so dangerous. Acetaminophen (Tylenol), for instance, is fine. But never take any medicines without your doctor’s permission.

Secondhand Smoke
You don’t have to smoke yourself to put yourself and your baby under risk to get ill with cancer. It’s enough for your mate to smoke near you to poison you and your baby with chemicals the cigarette smoke contains. Actually, exposure to secondhand smoke during pregnancy boosts the chances of low birth weight, sudden infant death syndrome, and other health difficulties. So ask your partner to quit not for his own health but for yours and your baby's. And avoid standing near to other people who smoke.

Stress
Your growing belly reminds you all the time of how much your life will change once you give birth to a baby. You think that it is stressful but try to take it easy. Tension releases hormones that decrease blood flow to the placenta and triggers contractions, and it can result in miscarriage, preterm birth, and low birth weight. If your job is of high-pressure, do what you can to diminish the tension. If you have difficulties in your personal life, surround yourself with supportive people and practice relaxation techniques.

Vitamin A
Big amounts of vitamin A during pregnancy can lead to heart and facial defects. Lab tests show that problems can happen when pregnant women take more than 10,000 international units (IU) a day. You get enough vitamin A from the food products you consume, and only your doctor can tell you whether you should take it additionally.
