| Gestational Surrogacy | The intended mother or egg donor has to undergo one or more medical treatment cycles to raise the production of eggs. Only after that the egg can be taken. After attempting a fresh transfer the surrogate mother must keep to a strict regimen of taking medications and hormones as well including injecting herself with progesterone. When the cycles are finished, the eggs are extracted in a surgical way and they are impregnated by the father’s sperm which is perfectly fresh though it may be thawed. Soon the embryos created are tested for quality.
After that all three sides of gestational surrogacy – the Reproductive Encronologist, intended parents and surrogate mother have to determine the quantity of eggs to transfer. Their decision will have a direct impact on the quality of results and on the price of an operation, that’s why generally all three parties engaged in this process don’t show much courage. It frequently happens that the time provided for the surrogate mother and/or egg donor to work within is running out. In a month after the surrogate mother has succeeded in achieving pregnancy the RE releases her to her regular OBGYN or midwife's care. After the delivery the names of the intended parents are usually tacitly indicated on the child’s birth certificate but sometimes it is necessary for the surrogate mother and her husband to be recognized as child’s parents and then to abdicate their parental right so that the intended mother could legally adopt their child.
In case if the health insurance doesn’t pay off the IVF procedure gestational surrogacy will cost much more than the traditional one. Despite the fact the gestational surrogate usually requests $2,000-$8,000 less than traditional one, nevertheless the whole process of gestational surrogacy takes much more time and work. It is much harder to get pregnant and besides the effect of medications taken makes such surrogacy more dangerous for health.
