Consider problems associated with ovarian stimulation by fertility drugs as a part of In Vitro Fertilization treatment.
Ovarian Stimulation by Fertility Drugs
There exist no drug, which is absolutely safe and which does not have the least side effects. Although most fertility medicines, which are taken in order to provide the ovarian stimulation, are rarely associated with complications, there are some possible problems, which may occur. To the most common side effects refer the following:

Side effects of ovarian stimulation by fertility drugs
Very few women may experience any kind of side effect in the result of the fertility drugs application. However, these side effects and complications include allergic reaction; local reactions, such as mild bruises and soreness at the site of injections; headaches; mood changes; hot flushes and vaginal dryness. All the side effects and complications, which are mentioned above are short – lived and they are not the reasons for concern.

In about 15% of women, who undergo the IVF treatment functional cysts may develop. These cysts may produce estrogen, and they may also be associated with poor In Vitro Fertilization outcomes. in case if it occurs, the aspiration of the cyst may be necessary.

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS)
The ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is considered to be the most serious complication of In Vitro Fertilization treatment. Any woman, who is conducted ovulation induction appears to be at risk of the OHSS development, however, some women are more at risk than others.
Ovarian hypserstimulation syndrome is usually divided into mild, moderate and severe. While classifying it, the symptoms and signs are taken into consideration. It should be pointed out, that severe OHSS is an IVF treatment complication, which bears threaten to the woman’s life.

As a rule the symptoms of OHSS become noticeable in 4 – 5 days after the eggs were collected. Usually women suffer from a mild or moderate form of the ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and these forms may be resolved in several days, however, only in case if pregnancy has not occurred, as if the woman got pregnant, the recovery will be probably not so soon.

To the most common signs of OHSS belong: pain, bloated feeling; abdominal swelling. It is also possible, though rarely enough, that cysts may develop in the ovaries, and fluid may get accumulated in the abdominal cavity, which will cause the feeling of discomfort.

In rare cases the ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome acquires severe forms, and the ovaries become overswollen. The woman, suffering from severe OHSS form feels ill she has nausea, vomiting and pain in the abdominal cavity. Because fluid gets accumulated in the chest and abdominal cavity, the woman begins to experience shortness of breath and the reduction of the urine produced also occurs. Severe OHSS form requires hospitalization in order to restore the fluid and the balance of electrolytes, as well as to keep pain under control and to monitor pregnancy. However, sometimes the pregnancy will have to be terminated.
In addition, some complications, which are associated with severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, include kidney damage, blood clotting and twisted ovary.

Though all gestational surrogate mothers, who undergo the IVF treatment are carefully monitored, in up to 33% of cases, mild forms of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome occurs. Women suffer from severe OHSS form in about 3 – 8% of In Vitro Fertilization cycles.
