Agreements and Fee Discussion
After you have chosen a woman to become a surrogate mother and carry a baby for you, you will have to print and sign up the Surrogate Gestational Carrier Agreement and Acknowledgement of Intended Parents documents and pay the Program Fee, which makes about $6000. At most agencies you are to return your signed agreements and payments during first three working days after you have selected a woman, who would be carrying a baby for you.

Introduction to the Surrogate Mother
So, you have already chosen the woman to become a surrogate mother for your future baby, and you have also signed up all the necessary agreements and paid the Program Fee. The next step in your journey usually becomes a meeting with the agency manager, you (the intended parent(s)), and the perspective surrogate mother and her partner, if there is any. In case if the meeting is successful, (if you, the perspective surrogate mother and her partner are still interested in the procedure), then all the necessary information about the further steps is given to both sides.

Surrogate Mother’s Psychological Evaluation
After you come to agreement to work with one another, the perspective surrogate mother will be invited to the licensed psychologist, who is available at most agencies as a rule, in order to evaluate her emotional and mental condition, and to see if she is ready for the further surrogacy arrangements. The perspective intended parents pay for all the doctors’ visits of a surrogate mother.

Surrogate Mother’s Fee Negotiation and Legal Contract Signing – up
It is the surrogate gestational carrier, who determines the amount of money you are to pay her for the service of carrying and delivering a baby, which would have biological connection with you. As a rule any surrogate mother would request about $18000 for one baby and about $23000 for twins. No expense is included. After you have discussed the entire fee with the surrogate mother, you and your lawyer will have to present her a contract. After that the surrogate mother meets with her attorney, she chooses for herself, he looks through the contract with her and discusses any change in it with you before you (the intended parents) and the woman, who will be carrying your baby for you sign it. You are to keep in mind that you pay for the perspective surrogate mother’s lawyer as well.

Pregnancy
The medical procedure the gestational surrogate mother is to undergo in order to become pregnant is mostly painless. With the help of some kind special medicine, the menstrual cycles of the surrogate mother and the intended mother are synchronized. Besides the surrogate mother will have to take Estrogen before her ovulation day, and the intended mother will have to take some kind of fertility drugs. With the help of the blood tests, taken daily and with the ultrasound, the development of the intended mother’s egg will constantly be under control.
It is necessary to have the thickness of the lining of the surrogate mother’s uterus evaluation. This kind of procedure is conducted with the help of blood tests and ultrasounds. After it is completed, the eggs are taken from the biological mother. The very procedure of eggs retrieval is not considered to be a surgical one, and all it requires is some kind of mild sedative in order to help the woman get relaxed. When the eggs are taken from the biological mother’s womb, they are fertilized with the biological father’s sperm. After the fertilization occurs, the physician transfers the embryos into the surrogate mother’s uterus for the development. Having got pregnant, the surrogate mother will carry your baby (babies) to term, until the very delivery day. During all these long nine months it is possible that you, being intended parents will maintain close and friendly relationship with the woman, who carries your own baby for you, though it is not necessary, and it depends on many factors.
