Surrogacy Aspects
No matter how strange it can seem to you, but there become less and less Caucasian American babies, available for adoption in the United States each year, because of the common use of Contraception Methods, the Abortion legalization and the negative stigma against single motherhood being melted away. Caucasian American babies are the most sought after ones, and, according to the statistics, there are seventy parents, looking for a baby to adopt for one of these parentless children. Such a shortage of healthy white babies, combined with strict requirements of adoptive parents and agencies’ references, present in some areas, has become the result that more and more couples, wishing to become parents, are looking for a surrogate mother to help them let their dreams come true. The growth of successful attempts and access to In Vitro Fertilization, the increase of donation of sperm, ovum and embryo has provided the surrogacy boom as well.

The phenomenon of Surrogacy is not a new one, as there is a number of tales about surrogate mothers and intended parents in the Roman plays and even in the Holy Bible. Throughout our history, the very process and the phenomenon of women, carrying a baby for an infertile couple was not uncommon thing in many cultures.
From the point of view of commerce, there are two kinds of surrogacies: an Intrafamilia Surrogacy and a Commercial Surrogacy.

An Intrafamilia Surrogacy occurs, when the surrogate mother is a person, who is genetically related to one of the intended parents.

A Commercial Surrogacy takes place, when a surrogate mother becomes a person, with whom none of the intended parents might have been acquainted before. A woman agrees to be a surrogate mother, after that she gets artificially inseminated and or she undergoes IVF treatment, she carries a baby all nine months long, she delivers this baby, and after all she is expected to relinquish her parental rights and to give this child to the intended parents, who file for a step parent adoption or some other necessary legal formality, which the laws of the area they live in require. As a rule some kind of a contract gets involved, which would outline all parties intentions and financial obligation. This contact may or may not be enforceable, as this circumstance also depends on a definite area, in which the whole surrogacy procedure takes place.

Most prospective intended parents, who take part in the surrogacy procedure arrangement do it with the woman, they did not know before, though, there are also women, who become a surrogate mother for a relative or friend, close to her, and there are women as well, who never get to know for whom they have been carrying a baby. In some cases the woman, who is going to become a surrogate mother and the future intended parents meet with each other with the help of a lawyer, or a surrogacy agency, or any other third party surrogacy arrangement assistant. In the last case, the third party arranges is to oversee the surrogacy and he usually helps to all people, who take part in the surrogacy procedure, not only with the initial locating, matching and screening of intended parents and surrogacies mothers, and in many other steps, like psychological help, on – going counseling providing, he also helps during the contracts are being signed, he provides medical screening, this person is also to oversee all the financial arrangements, the efforts to achieve pregnancy, moderate communications between the women, who are going to become surrogate mothers and the future intended parents, and he is also to assist with the finalization of the custodial agreements as well. Not all surrogacy agencies will provide such a wide range of help, and in addition, their services are rather expensive.
